Standing at 12,662 feet, Borah Peak is Idaho's highest mountain. Located in the Lost River range in the central Idaho, Borah Peak is isolated and sparse with vegetation, but that does not stop climbers seeking the thrill of reaching its summit.

Borah Peak is roughly 100 miles from Sun Valley, making the trip a little over 2 hours. The best season to climb Borah Peak is typically May through November. If there is snow, the approach is much more difficult so people are advised to climb it in the summer months when most of the snow has melted. The north face of the peak, however, offers one of Idaho's only year round snow routes, for those looking for a greater challenge than the normal route. People typically take the route on the southwest ridge, which includes a strenuous hike for the most part, until you reach the last crossing before main summit crest. This area is known as "chickenout ridge," as many climbers turn around once they see the dangerous crossing they must make. Many climbers attempt Borah as a day hike since water is non existent on the mountain and there are very few level areas, making camping difficult.
