Boulder Mountain Tour XC Ski Race

The Boulder Mountain Tour is a 32k cross country ski race. The course brings skiers from Galena Lodge to the Sawtooth National Recreation Headquarters, north of Ketchum. The race welcomes the first 1,000 entrants and has age classes ranging from 12 and under to 85 and older so all are encouraged to participate.

Year after year the Boulder Mountain Tour is considered one of the premier cross-country ski events in the United States. Drawing a field from across the country.

The Sun Valley Nordic Festival is a week filled with nordic skiing, demonstrations, races, seminars, and activies all culminating with the Boulder Mountain Tour

  • The race begins at Baker Creek finishing up at the SNRA Headquarters.
  • A 15k race through gorgeous terrain
  • Usually held in early February

Overview: There is something for everyone at the Boulder Mountain Tour. The 15k race leads competitors through spectacular territory against world class racers. Most racers skate ski, but for those who prefer classic there is a single track along the side of the course. 

Where: The race begins at Baker Creek finishing up at the SNRA Headquarters.

When: Held in early February year after year

Cost: There is an entry fee for participants. check the website for rules and fees.

Details: Awards will be handed out to male and female winners in each age group. There are also a number of other valuable awards and prizes. This cross country ski race attracts big crowds and there is an entry fee for all ski racers.

A race called the Boulder Race is also a non competitive race for those new to the sport or just racing for fun.

Buses are available for spectators and skiers from the Ketchum Park and Ride to the start and then back again from the finish. The course has gentle rolling hills and drops 11,000 feet in elevation over its total length.
