Ernest Hemingway Festival
Enthusiasts and organizations in the Sun Valley area have created the Ernest Hemingway Festival in order to appreciate and honor the authors literary works and love for Idaho and the Sun Valley area. Hemingway spent a great deal of time in the Wood River Valley and deeply loved and was inspired by the natural environment.

Enthusiasts and organizations in the Sun Valley area have created the Ernest Hemingway Festival in order to appreciate and honor the authors literary works and love for Idaho and the Sun Valley area. Hemingway spent a great deal of time in the Wood River
The festival holds events in and around Sun Valley and Ketchum. Featured scholars and speakers include Susan F. Beegel, a literary scholar and Hemingway expert, and Valerie Hemingway, a family member who has written a memoir of her life with the Hemingway's. The festival kicks off with a film, followed by panel discussions, a Hemingway Hangout tour and a slide show titled Hemingway in Idaho. There are also special dinners, movies, lectures and an Indian Summer Shootout.. There is a short story contest in which the winner receives $500. Local lodges provide accommodation specials.
