Sawtooth Salmon Festival

The Sawtooth Salmon Festival happens every summer in Stanley in an effort to educate and spread awareness about the endangered salmon in Idaho's rivers. The festival offers multiple trips to spawning beds in the area throughout the two day event. There is also live music, art and dancing.

The annual Sawtooth Salmon Festival is a great way to get involved in the effort to save the wild salmon in Idaho. The two day festival is packed with trips to different spawning beds in the Stanley area. Researchers are working to find out why the return of the salmon is so slow and going to where the salmon spawn is a rare chance to see nature in action. The festival alternates these trips with other events throughout the day such as live music, poetry readings, food, drink, art shows and traditional Shoshone-Bannock dances. There are also talks given by Idaho Department of Fish and Game biologists. The Salmon Festival continues to grow each year due to the great entertainment and the valuable salmon education.

It looks like you may have missed it this time around.
