Fishing //
The Boise River is an easy drive from Boise, Idaho. In an hour you can be fishing. The river is divided into the north, middle and south forks all of which offer different types of fishing. Fly fishing in the Boise River Basin is world class and promised to be beautiful and not crowded.
The South fork of the Boise River is perhaps the most popular area. The section is a classic western tailwater and has plenty of big fish and bugs. Though this may not be the best part of the river for beginners. Regulations requiring artificial lures and single hooks encourage fly fishing but do not require it. Drift boats are appropriate on the South Fork during spring and early summer when water levels are high. Lucky for fishermen, there is a steady hatch of insects all year round so there is always a chance to catch a fat trout. The North Fork of the Boise is made up of many small mountain tributaries which offer great stream fishing. Experts recommend a Royal Wullf or a Parachute Adams for this section of river. The Middle Fork of the Boise River is a mix of the surrounding sections. As long as you have a fat, attractive dry fly there is a good chance of catching a trout.
