Boise River
Located about 175 miles from Sun Valley, Boise is often referred to as
the city of trees and one trip to the Boise River will make you realize
why. With an abundance of lush foliage, gorgeous wildflowers, and a
variety of birds, great rafting, fishing, and tubing are not the only
reason
people come to this area.
The Boise River runs along nearly 75 miles of Southeastern Idaho, where it is a tributary to the Snake River. It flows through the majestic Sawtooth range, before it reaches Boise City where people can indulge in several types of recreation.
Rafting and tubing enthusiasts will enjoy a scenic float on the Boise where lovely wildflowers and possible birds of prey sightings will provide plenty of entertainment. You can take a trip with one of the several rafting companies in the area, or bring your own raft and put in at one of several areas.
The most popular spot for rafters and tubers to put in is at Barber Park, located just 6 miles from downtown Boise. From there you can float 6 miles downstream to the take out point at Ann Morrison Park. For anglers, fishing the Boise River is quite an experience.
With rainbow trout stocked on a monthly basis, there should be no trouble catching something to brag about later.
