When parking at some of the cross-country ski areas in the Sun Valley area it is necessary to have the Park N' Ski Pass. This Pass can be purchased at the local regional office of the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation or at one of the local cross-country ski shops. The cost of the Pass is $25 and allows you to park at eleven different backcountry ski sites across the State of Idaho. A seasonal Park N' Ski permit is valid from November to April. A 3-day temporary permit is $7.50 plus tax.
When parked at these particular areas, it is necessary to display the Park N'Ski Pass in the front windshield of your vehicle in order to avoid being fined. The money generated from the sale of the Park N'Ski Passes is targeted specifically for cross-country ski trail maintenance and the grooming of the trails. In addition, the moneys are expended to keep the parking lots plowed and to provide sanitation facilities at the trailheads. Unique among most monies spend to purchase passes – when you purchase your Idaho Park N'Ski Pass, you can designate which cross-country area you would like your purchase dollars directed to.
