Winter Activities

  • Downhill Skiing
    Of course, the world-renowned ski slopes are the primary attraction. Bald Mountain boasts of 3,400 vertical feet of slope. There are plenty of ski lifts so the wait to get to the top of the mountain is never long.
  • Cross-Country Skiing
    Nearby you can tour the countryside on cross-country skis so you can appreciate this spectacular area at a leisurely pace.
  • Snowshoeing
    Hiking through the backcountry and along peaceful, scenic trails can be accomplished by strapping on a pair of snowshoes.
  • Snowmobiling
    The Blaine County snowmobile program grooms nearly 120 miles of snowmobile trails in the area north of Ketchum and the Wood River Recreation Area. For the more adventurous, there is lots of off trail riding, too.

  • Biking
    The same terrain that made the area great for skiing also makes it a mountain bike destination. The mountains in the area are shaped with near perfect slopes making for well graded climbing and fast “no brakes needed” descending.
  • Canoeing/Kayaking/White-Water Rafting
    This area is home to more navigate-able white water than any other. Come to Ketchum and let any of the local businesses or the local themselves point you in the right direction!
  • Fishing
    Come cast your fly into some of the most pristine fishing waters in the world. World-class fishing and adventure await you in the Ketchum area.
  • Hiking
    If you want to get up close to nature, the best choice is hiking. However, it is not necessary for you to do all the “heavy lifting” yourself. A popular activity is day hikes with llamas. Hikers are accompanied with trained guides through many of the scenic wilderness area and the llamas carry everything.
