Sun Valley has four  seasons, all of which are blessed with many days of sunshine.

Don’t be fooled by the evergreen forest; Wood River Valley actually has a mountain desert climate so compared to other ski resorts there is somewhat less moisture here.

Spring/Summer

Sun Valley, ID climate is mild during the spring and summer when temperatures tend to be in the 60's. The warmest month of the year is July with an average maximum temperature of 80.90 degrees Fahrenheit

Highest temperatures are experienced during mid day with temperatures dropping during the evening and night hours. It is always best to dress in layers so you can adjust your clothing as the temperature changes. Temperature variations between night and day tend to be relatively big during summer with a difference that can reach 39 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fall/Winter

Fall and winter days are very cold with the average temperatures in the 20’s. The coldest month of the year is January with an average minimum temperature of 3.90 degrees Fahrenheit. During the winter the average difference between temperatures during the day can be 29 degrees Fahrenheit.

The annual average precipitation at Sun Valley is 18.91 Inches. Precipitation is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year. The wettest month of the year is December with average precipitation of 2.32 Inches.
