Billing itself as "Idaho's best undiscovered small ski town", Fairfield is a great community with friendly, hospitable people, a casual atmosphere and year-round recreation. The Fairfield area has a unique prairie and scenic mountain landscape.

Location

Fairfield, Idaho can be found in the midst of the Camas Prairie, 54 miles southwest of Sun Valley on Highway 20 or 60 miles east of Mountain Home, Idaho and the junction of Highway 20 and Interstate 84.

Whether you come in the fall, winter, spring or summer to enjoy all that Fairfield Idaho has to offer, be sure to plan and make lodging reservations, as lodging availability is limited. There are also only one or two places in town to eat.

Activities

Popular with visitors for its year round recreation opportunities, Fairfield is a great place to visit for any outdoor recreation enthusiast.
In the winter, the combination of sun and fun draws visitors to this unique prairie community. Winter activities include snowboarding, groomed alpine skiing and cat skiing and back country skiing. There are hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails – something for each level of expertise. You can also enjoy cross-country skiing.

With the wide-open prairie at its feet and the mountain area at its back, Fairfield is a wonderful place to enjoy the long, sunny days of summer and the clear star-studded night skies. Breathe in the fresh, dry mountain air, as you participate in outdoor activities that include hiking, biking, fishing, camping, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing.

Attractions

Soldier Mountain Ski area can be found just a few miles north of town. The Mountain is popular in the winter for downhill skiers and snowboarders. In the summer, it is an excellent place to picnic, hike and mountain bike.

Getting Here

To travel to Fairfield from Sun Valley, head south on Highway 75 to the junction of Highway 75 and Highway 20. Head west on Highway 22 and shortly you will arrive at Fairfield. Along the way you will enjoy different views of the southern end of the Wood River Valley and open prairies. The total distance between the two is 54 miles.
